EN32B is a carbon case hardening steel. Components when carburized have a core strength range of 430-490 N/mm2, with a hard-wearing surface. It is a popular case hardening steel grade for general engineering, readily machinable and weldable in its supply condition. EN32B is low tensile steel suited for lightly stressed components.
Commonly used for general engineering lightly stressed applications that are subject to wear, EN32B is suitable for applications such as collets, cams, rollers, bushes, spindles, and gears.

HHeat treatment temperatures, including the rate of heating, cooling, and soaking times will vary due to factors such as the shape and size of each steel component. Other considerations during the heat treatment process include the type of furnace, quenching medium, and workpiece transfer facilities.
Harden at a temperature of 760-780°C. Quench in water.
Tempering is recommended for stress relief and maximum case toughness. Tempering ranges from 150-200°C.

Heat slowly and uniformly to 1100°C. After forging cool slowly.
After rough machining tools should be stress relieved. Soaking time 2 hours after the whole piece has attained a temperature of approximately 675°C. Cool in a furnace to approximately 500°C, and then freely in the air.
Normalize at 840-870°C, and cool in air.
Heat uniformly to 700°C. Soak well and cool slowly in the furnace.
