Grade Introduction:
16MnCr5 steel is alloyed case hardening engineering steels for parts
that require core tensile strength of 800 – 1100 N/mm² and good
wearing resistance. It is an engineering material typically used to
manufacture piston bolts, camshafts, levers, and other vehicle and
mechanical engineering components. 16MNCR5 Grade is also available in
different shapes like Round, Flat, Square steel Bars.
Grade Application:
DIN 16MnCr5|1.7131 steel is widely used for a variety of applications
in the used to gearings in rotating machinery. Typical applications
such as valve bodies, pumps, and fittings, the high load of the wheel,
bolts, double-headed bolts, gears, internal combustion engine.

Heat Treatment:
When hardening 16MnCr5 heat treatment temperatures, including the rate
of heating, cooling, and soaking times will vary due to factors such
as the shape and size of each steel component. Other considerations
during heat treatment include the type of furnace, quenching medium,
and workpiece transfer facilities. Please consult a heat treatment
specialist for full guidance on heat treatment of 16MNCr5 steel.
Hardening:
Harden from a temperature of 860-980°C followed by water, oil, or
thermal bath quenching.
Tempering:
Tempering temperature: 150-200°C.

Stress Relieving:
600-680°C
Normalizing:
Temperature: 850-880°C.
